Land and Sea Excursions of Skagway
In preparing for your trip to Alaska you should know that Skagway is known as the gateway to the Yukon.
This is an eight hour tour that begins at the
small boat harbor at 7:30 am and ends on Broadway around 4 pm or
back at your ship if you desire. This tour is for up to six persons
with your personal guide, Captain Bernie Warchuck.
We venture out into Taiya Inlet for a morning of fishing and wildlife viewing . Then it's back to the dock for lunch and tour of the historic gold rush town of Skagway. After lunch we head out of town, up the pass and into Canada for some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. This area is the watershed for the beginnings of the Yukon River and is an area unspoiled by human activity.
Alternate itineraries include a scenic wildlife trip on the water instead of fishing, a trip to Dyea, the trailhead of the historic Chilkoot Trail, a short trip along the Chilkoot Trail or up to lower Dewey Lake. Instead of the Yukon visit, a van ride to the
summit may be in order. As you can see, there are several options and one of them should be just what you're looking for. Captain Bernie knows the area well and will be able to assist you with a personal itinerary.
